Gain understanding about your emotional landscape and find new choices

Counselling is a talking therapy. It gives a safe space for you to explore difficult feelings. The counsellor is there to support you and respect your views, helping you to find your own insights into your problems and to deal with and overcome issues.

Our counselling service is provided regardless of gender, sexual orientation, race, ethnicity, ability or faith. We work with adults, from age 17 upwards. If at the first appointment we feel we are not the best people to help you, we will discuss other options with you.

At the present time, it seems unlikely that we will be able to return to offering face to face counselling for the rest of 2020.

We continue to offer no-cost NHS-funded short-term counselling to residents of Cambridge and surrounding areas, via online teleconferencing or by telephone.

If you are unsure about how that would be for you, we suggest that you could use your initial assessment session as a trial, to see how it is for you in practice. Although some people only want to do counselling in person, over the past 6 months many people have told us they've been surprised to discover that phone or Zoom counselling is actually pretty effective.
